Hello once again from the most beautiful city in the world (in my extremely biased opinion), Virginia Beach, VA! Thanks for joining us for the Back & Forth blog. There's a lot to tell, so let's get into it!
We opened the church at 3pm on Thanksgiving Day for a time of fellowship, testimonies, entertainment and of course FOOD! There were at least three turkeys, a ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pies, and even homemade egg nog. Everyone was stuffed. The food was delicious, but the testimonies of what people are thankful for, and the reports of what God has done in the lives of people were easily the best part.
While most shopped, some of the men from the church took to the waters for a fishing excursion. Trips like this are highly beneficial as men are re-introduced to the idea of being "fishers of men" as Jesus said.
Christmas Banquet (Norfolk Potter's House)
Each year our sister church in Norfolk puts on a fantastic formal banquet to celebrate the birth of Jesus. There are testimonies, live music and lots of games and prizes. Area churches from Newport News, Hampton, Portsmouth and of course Virginia Beach all participate. Everything from the decor to the cuisine to the volunteer nursery/children's workers is provided by the Norfolk congregations. At only $10 a plate, the fare is unbeatable. Many visitors came and as a result were able to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ preached in a variety of venues...
...and this also happened...
Home Bible Studies
Beginning this Friday, Dec. 9th we will begin weekly home bible studies at 7:30 pm in 2 locations. Always a great time of fellowship and food (if you haven't figured it out by now, we like to eat), these studies are tremendous for establishing the foundations of the faith. Please contact Pastor Adam for locations and any questions.
Saturday Night Alive Concert, Dec. 10th
Join us this coming Saturday for a live, but "unplugged" edition of Saturday Night Alive.
On Friday Dec. 16th we will be taking as many available men as possible to a Men's Discipleship in Jacksonville, NC. Discipleship is critical especially in our generation. "Men's D" as we sometimes call it is a place where men can be challenged to step-out and be who God has called them to be. Last time we took twelve people, which was a record for us. Let's see if we can break that record!
You are aware that Christmas is on a Sunday this year, right?... and you're planning on going to church, right? We trust that you are. On the evening of December 25th we will be performing our Christmas Play "Inside Out" at 6:30pm. Come check it out after you've gotten your fill of gift-opening!
Coming in January & February...
Revival with Evangelist Tony Chase from Chandler, AZ and our first ever Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University Seminar! We will have links to sign up for it very soon!
That's all for now, thank you for being with us. God bless you!
