Episode 028 – Defeating Discouragement

In this episode Pastor Adam interviews possibly the most encouraging man on the planet - Evangelist Richard Brooks!

Richard's testimony is amazing. From being a California hippy to somehow ending up in an Australian jail, Richard was powerfully saved AND filled with the Holy Spirit in his jail cell after reading the book We Can Take the Land by the founder of Christian Fellowship Ministries, Pastor Wayman Mitchell. Eventually released from jail, Richard became a missionary in Romania, where he and his wife's labors were blessed by the hand of God in a big way; today the church they started has numerous baby churches and even hosts its own bible conference. He has been evangelizing all over the world for more than fifteen years. His journey has had its share of ups and downs, setbacks and victories.

Evangelist Brooks is filled with wisdom and encouragement. If you are feeling discouraged, or that God can't use your life for his glory, this is the episode for you!

Pastor Adam and Dave wrap the show with a little post-election narrative - as if there hasn't been enough political talk in the past year. What's just a little more?

Also, we mention a recent sermon from Pastor Adam concerning "Hope for the Snowflakes" generation. You can click the link to the sermon here.

Episode 027 – The Power of Inadequacy

We welcome you once again to TheBLAST Podcast where we attempt to emulate just a fraction of what The Trumpet magazine does. We seek to inspire and encourage all Christians, especially those of the Christian Fellowship Ministries.

In tonight's episode we explore the issue of inadequacy, and why it's important to possess as a believer. This is not an issue commonly spoken about in Christian media at large, and no wonder, it's incredibly unpopular to say "you're not good enough, and that's good enough for God to use you." Americans tend to focus on self-improvement, therefore that is the type of message much of the religious world caters to - the idea that you can make yourself good enough to accomplish whatever it is you want to accomplish.  But is that biblical? We look at several examples including the Rich Young Ruler, Solomon, Adam, Esau and Saul. What's the outcome? Listen to find out!

After the break we continue our study, looking at the examples of the Apostles Peter, John and Paul. Specifically, Paul wrote so much about his insufficiency, which was counter-intuitive since he was basically a highly-trained religious scholar. He could have touted his own qualifications and accomplishments, but instead chooses to say, "when I am weak, then I am strong."

Much of what we speak about in this episode was preached on brilliantly in the Truth for Life Podcast by Alistair Begg. Click here to check it out.

We include an excerpt from the book Standards of Ministry by Jay Nembhard, Foreward by Fred Rubi. Click the Amazon link below to check this book out!

In the last segment we give a little updated election commentary. Needless to say, we have not changed our position on Trump or Hillary. By the way, did you know that there are other candidates in the race? We'd just like to point out that Independent Conservative candidate Evan McMullin has gained A LOT of ground. Recently he tied both major candidates in a Utah poll. Check out his campaign by clicking here!
