Inaugural Edition of the Back & Forth Blog: Week of August 28th

First of all, thanks for being a part of what God is doing here at the Potter's House in Virginia Beach, VA. The Lord is truly building His church in a powerful way. We wanted to inform you about our vision to start up this new page entitled The Back & Forth Blog (maybe BFB for short?). This weekly blog page on our website has two main purposes:

  1. To highlight testimonies and victory reports of things that have happened over the previous week.
  2. To make announcements for the next week's events.

We hope that this weekly update will be a blessing to you going forward as we all pursue the calling that God has for us!

Looking Back

Impact Team to Charlotte, NC

The last weekend was an amazing time of fruitfulness as we gathered up the largest impact team in memory and went down to Charlotte, NC to labor alongside our sister church pastored by Brian and Becky Lowery. Check out the video and a few more pics below:

Everyone who attended this impact team can testify what a spirit of unity and partnership that was moving since we successfully had a "No Drama" experience for over 18 hours! In addition, we had four souls that prayed for salvation and several more that were very open and willing to come to the services we were promoting. We prayed for the sick, encouraged backsliders, did a lot of sweating and then had a roadside concert! The heat dissipated with a few sprinkles of rain and gave us the perfect atmosphere to sing, testify and proclaim the Gospel on one main road in the church area. We are so grateful for the invitation from Pastor Lowery to come and labor in his city for the Kingdom of God.

Sunday Services

The last Sunday of every month we dedicate both of our services to the mission of World Evangelism. Our hearts were truly stirred for lost; both here in our city and the unreached all around the world. Sunday morning's attendance was the close to the highest we've seen this year and we were all encouraged by the families and visitors that joined us. Pastor Dragoon's message was entitled "Ability Vs. Availability". The morning service was topped off by the announcement of Adam & Hristina McFeaters as the new Door Directors. By God's grace, we hope to send them out into the harvest field by this time next year. Please pray for this couple as they take on these new responsibilities and go through the necessary on-the-job preparation for ministry.

In the evening service, we were inspired by the Thursday night conference sermon preached by Pakia Raj. If you missed it, you should really need go back and listen/watch to this moving message posted below. Let the call to selflessness inspire you to greatness.

Also in the evening service, we took up pledges to support World Evangelism and I am pleased to report that the church promised to give give over $800 each month for this cause! So exciting!

Sister Nelda's Funeral Service

Last week we were saddened and overjoyed at the news that Sister Nelda Mitchell had departed the earthly temple and passed into the arms of Jesus. Scripture comforts us in times like these: "So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: 'Death is swallowed up in victory.'” (1 Cor. 15:54). All those who appreciate the Prescott church and the ministry of Pastor Mitchell ought to take part in honoring her memory by watching her memorial service posted here:

Looking Forward

September will prove to be an exciting and busy month with many fun events on the schedule. Let's go over what's coming this week! Skip to our events page here.

We cherish the opportunity to gather together each Wednesday night to be encouraged, edified and equipped for the rest of the work week. Join us tonight @ 7:30PM to take part!

Friday Night Outreaches

This week we are making impact on two fronts: the early group and the late group. The first group will be going around to some various different apartment complexes around town to put up this poster in advance of our Sunday Back-to-School Blessings Event.

The late group is going back to the Oceanfront for our Late-Night edition of Preach at the Beach. We will be meeting at 8:30PM to pray and then head out together to witness and testify on the streets from 9PM-11PM. Every time we go, we experience God's wonderful hand of Grace guiding us to the right people at the right time.

We would ask you to be involved in either one or the other. Thanks!

Saturday Events

Saturday will begin with a prayer meeting at 10AM, followed by our weekly outreach at 11AM. We will be inviting our friends & neighbors to a one-time showing of the film, Risen, featuring Joseph Fiennes. This will take place at 7PM and looks to be a fantastic, action-packed film. Can't wait for this one.. make sure you bring a friend! Check out the trailer here:

Roman military tribune Clavius (Joseph Fiennes) remains set in his ways after serving 25 years in the army. He arrives at a crossroad when he's tasked to investigate the mystery of what happened to Jesus (Cliff Curtis) following the Crucifixion. Accompanied by trusted aide Lucius (Tom Felton), his quest to disprove rumors of a risen Messiah makes him question his own beliefs and spirituality. As his journey takes him to places never dreamed of, Clavius discovers the truth that he's been seeking.

Sunday is Coming!

This Sunday is our Back-To-School Blessings service where we will be praying for our kids as they get back into the school year. God knows the challenges that lie ahead for all of our youngsters as they are going back into the lion's den of new classes, study, peer pressure and worldly influences. In this service, we will be ministering directly to these students and all the parents as we embark on this new school year. Join us to pray for them! Also, we will be giving out some knap sacks full of school supplies for any families that might need them. Looking forward to being a blessing to our kids as they start the year.

And Finally...

Father, we thank you for your divine hand at work through all the events happening in our congregation. Please help us so that all that we do will glorify your holy Name. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
