What faithfulness looks like

Teresa Adams (Pictured with a light blue shirt and two thumbs up) attends her final Saturday Outreach with the VBPH crew.

There are rare moments in ministry when words seem wholly inadequate—when mere syllables cannot capture the weight of a life well-lived for the glory of God. This is one of those moments, as we pause to celebrate and honor the extraordinary faithfulness of our dear Sister Teresa Adams.

For the past fifteen years that I have had the privilege of pastoring The Potter’s House Church in Virginia Beach, Teresa has been a steadfast presence at our Saturday outreaches. Not once in those years has she failed to show up, to lift her voice in prayer, to offer her hand in service, and to extend the love of Christ to our community. And even more astonishing, she has maintained this rhythm of ministry since she first joined our church back in the early 90’s. That is over three decades of unwavering, joy-filled service in the Kingdom of God!

There are those who labor behind the scenes, who may never preach from a pulpit or lead a song from the stage, yet whose impact is incalculable. Miss Teresa is one of those faithful warriors. Her quiet consistency has been a foundational pillar in this house—a spiritual beam holding up the structure of our mission. Her intercessions have paved the way for breakthroughs. Her encouragement has lifted weary arms. Her presence has been a constant, holy reminder that faithfulness is a fruit of the Spirit and a reflection of our Savior.

Now, as she turns the page to a new chapter—relocating to be closer to family and stepping into new assignments from the Lord—we feel both the sting of her absence and the sweetness of her legacy. We send her with our prayers, our blessings, and our deep gratitude.

The eternal impact of Teresa's faithfulness is unfathomable. Only in eternity will we truly see the souls touched, the lives changed, and the seeds of the gospel that took root because of her steadfast witness. And the reward that awaits her? It is immeasurable. For Scripture promises that God is not unjust to forget our labor of love (Hebrews 6:10).

Let her example stir us to action. Let it provoke us to greater faithfulness. In a generation tempted by comfort and convenience, may we rise to the standard set by saints like Teresa Adams. May we find our place on the front lines, week after week, trusting that every step of obedience echoes in eternity.

Sister Teresa: We thank you. We bless you. We honor you.
