In Memory of Adele

From VBPH Christmas Party, 2020

Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. – Gal 6:2

A Note From Pastor Adam:

We were awakened this morning to the sad news that the long-time member of our church and faithful follower of Christ, Mrs. Adele Wilcox, had stepped into eternity to meet her Savior. Miss Adele (as we all called her) could nearly always be found in our services, knitting away on her latest craft while she listened to the messages. I observed that she always enjoyed singing worship songs and giving back to the church throughout the years that she was a part of our congregation. Though this is a beautiful homecoming day for her, the rest of us are left behind to grieve the loss of her earthly presence. All of our church members will dearly miss her, but we are aware of the deep mourning of her husband, Paul Wilcox, her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher & Leanna Soest, her beloved grandchildren, Shayden, Sabin, and Sebastian, and her brother Val, and sister, Jackie, and their spouses.

The unexpected passing of our dear sister has caused a severe financial strain upon her grieving husband, Paul, who is also an Iraq war Army vet. He recently had a severe case of COVID-19, which left him with lingering health issues of his own. He will, without a doubt, have great difficulty laying Adele to rest in the coming days. This crucial time for the Wilcox's and the Soest's is a time for us to step up as a church and fulfill the law of Christ by helping in a time of need. If you appreciated Mrs. Adele and would now like to help the bereaved family, we have made it easy to make tax-deductible donations to our church, which we will pass directly to them without any fees, using the buttons on this page. (Please see below why we are fund-raising on our church website vs. a different platform.)

Your prayers are so precious in this time, as are your donations. Even if you cannot give, we ask you to pray and share with others why Mrs. Adele was a blessing to your life. The family will appreciate this very much! If you do give, please leave a comment that we can post on this page to encourage others to do the same.

Why is this fundraiser on vbph.org instead of gofundme?

SIMPLE: we want 100% of your donations to go to the Wilcox & Soest family. GoFundMe takes a cut out of every donation on their platform, and so do the credit card companies. Using GoFundMe causes 4-7% of your intended donation to be diverted from the intended recipient. Our giving platform, RebelGive allows you to add the credit card fees to your gift, rather then taking it out of your intended gift. You can also choose to give via ACH, which is ZERO-FEE, which means 100% of your donation goes to the immediate need. Every tax-deductible donation will be received by The Potter's House Church in Virginia Beach, VA. Then, we will be extremely pleased to cover any bank fees to transfer the funds directly to the grieving family.
