Feb. 29, 1948: Richard Wurmbrand Arrested
Feb. 29, 2020: Watch Movie Telling His Story
On Feb. 29, 1948, Romanian secret police abducted Pastor Richard Wurmbrand off the streets of Bucharest. That day also happened to be leap day.
This leap day, the Potter’s House Church will host a screening of the award-winning film Tortured for Christ as a way of remembering Pastor Wurmbrand’s abduction and imprisonment. Based on his bestselling book of the same name, the film highlights Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand’s undying love for Christ and unyielding commitment to lead Communists to faith in Him.
Richard spent 14 years in prison, where he was tortured, beaten and locked in solitary confinement. Sabina spent three years in a labor camp, nearly freezing to death as she and other prisoners worked on the Danube Canal. Despite their suffering, neither of them lost hope or stopped sharing about Jesus Christ.
