Fundraiser Complete! (January 2021)
We are overjoyed to announce that thanks to a very generous anonymous donor, the Sandru family has received all the necessary funds to purchase the wheelchair van and also to enroll in much-needed physical therapy to continue Ionutz’s recovery. We sincerely thank everyone who was involved with this wonderful effort and we will update this page after we get word that the van has been purchased. THANK YOU!

A Note From Monica:
Hello, lovely people around the world. My name is Monica Sandru and Ionut is the name of my husband. I am 37 years old and the mother of our 15-year-old son, Eric.
This year will mark twelve years since the terrible night that changed my life completely. In 2008, we experienced a tragic car accident, the kind which no doctor would give Ionut any hope. For this reason, I am asking for your help today.
Our entire family was in the car that night. Thankfully, my son and I weren't harmed in the accident. But for my husband, the situation was very different. The injuries he suffered put him into a severe coma. Even with the help of all the doctors, he did not wake up for one year. During this time, he endured 15 surgeries, with little hope of survival and no chance of ever walking again. I was broken inside and had no power to change the situation. The only thing I could do for him and our family was to pray and believe that God would do a miracle. Despite all of the severe medical conditions, God did a mighty miracle for him! At long last, Ionut started coming out of the vegetative state.
Today, my son and I are beyond happy to have him with us every day, even though our family life is not the same. He is mentally and physically dependent on me, still unable to walk, and uses a wheelchair. But thankfully, he is present in our lives.
I am presenting this need to you today because, financially, we struggle to take care of Ionut in a way that benefits all of us. We are in significant need of a vehicle specially made for disabled people so our family can have mobility. I am asking for your help to make Ionut's life to be more comfortable. We want to have the ability to be able to move around because our family still enjoys life very much. We would be so grateful if you would help us continue seeing the beautiful world around us.
In Gratitude,
Monica Sandru from Brasov, Romania

Why is this fundraiser on vbph.org instead of gofundme?
SIMPLE: we want 100% of your donations to go to the Sandru family. GoFundMe takes a cut out of every donation on their platform, and so do the credit card companies. Using GoFundMe causes 4-7% of your intended donation to be diverted from the intended recipient. Our giving platform, RebelGive allows you to add the credit card fees to your gift, rather then taking it out of your intended gift. If your bank account is in the US, you can also choose to give via ACH, which is ZERO-FEE. Every tax-deductible donation will be received by The Potter's House Church in Virginia Beach, VA. Then, we will be extremely pleased to cover all bank fees to transfer the funds directly to the Sandru family in Brasov, Romania.
